Prado Altitude Fuel Capacity reduction- Install long range tanks?

Hi everyone,

We are looking to upgrade our vehicle and have decided to stick with the Prado rather than go back to Landcruiser. We are Kimberley residents and do some remote trips so fuel range is important to us. We were disappointed to learn of the reduction in fuel capacity of the Altitude from 2014 onward due to the spare being moved from the rear door to under the vehicle.

Does anyone have any experience with mods to increase the Altitude's fuel capacity? If so we would love to hear from you.

I know we could go GXL etc but I really like the extras the Altitude has to offer. We are also looking at VX and the 2013 Altitudes as an alternative.

There are ~135L replacement long range tanks available.

You can also fit a rear bar and wheel carrier and move the spare out from underneath and fit a 2nd long range tank. Might end up around 270L total.

We got a really good discount on our VX - was about the same price as an Altitude + tank + installation. I think the less 3rd party mods the more reliable the car... The only thing that failed on the Top Gear polar expedition was the 3rd party fuel tank - just saying
