  • Drawbar $$$ investment.

I was getting the camper set for its next trip and it dawned on me just how much I've spent on goodies sitting on the drawbar.
Mine's quite a humble affair but there must be lots of $$$ riding on some setups.
Thought some sort of list might be the go to compare setups.
OK… 2-large lockable alloy boxes, one has all the winching gear, Porta loo, chemicals, 12v shower, blocks of wood, ropes/pegs etc.
The other has 250AH of AGM batteries, DC-DC charger, inverter, car spares. (Have given the generator the flick in preference to solar)
Here's a pic. from the net, perhaps too much on the drawbar???

Just curious carco. Is that an aluminium chassis on your camper?

Looks like a bit of weight on there.... What weight does it all add up to? Looks to be some deformation on the risers that U bolts are attached too?

Discussed on Caravaners Forum. Appeared to be way too much weight on the A-frame, aluminium chassis, poor build construction, not made for Australian conditions (and purchased by dopes who think that a caravan can carry as much as a 10 tonne truck)

Hey that's not my drawbar, mine's steel and would make 3 of them. Those main sections look like an alloy builder's plank.
Found the photo on the net and wondered if she was a wee bit heavy on the ball.

I'm more worried about how that hitch plate is mounted.....

Don't think I should have added the pic, we're getting off topic.
That plate arrangement was just to move the thing to the nearest park. It needed a low loader to carry it from the roadside, tilt-tray was too small. (26' van)
Poor owner is stuck there while the company decides on reinforcement etc.
Company is apparently paying all costs but I think you wouldn't be too thrilled having just forked out God knows how much for the van and she only went from Brisy. to Longreach or somewhere and all that on bitumen.
