Reasons why it is better to get a Toyota specific unit:
    1. The harness provided will be a direct fit to a particular brand of vehicle. You will need to ask for a Toyota specific harness if you bought the VW unit.
    2. The mounting brackets are totally different between the VW and Toyota units. Toyota units have brackets that mount to the side of the headunit's chassis and the mounting point to the dash is deeper. The VW unit has a built-in bracket right near the front.
    3. The fascia size of the VW unit is larger than the opening on the 120's centre console. Toyota is 205x105mm. VW is Top: 220 Bottom: 213x133mm. You would need to hack into the surround trim on the 120. A standard DIN is 180x50mm. Double DIN is 180x100mm.

A 205x105mm rectangle gives a diagonal of 9". Given the space required for controls and bezels, a 7-8" screen is about the max size for a Toyota OEM replacement stereo.

        Agree with AMTS
I got the PF65HGTA for 2009 120 was super easy to install - plug and play.
        Fits OEM space perfectly.
All steering wheel controls work fine.
No DVD player - but why need when you have 2 USB plugs which play movies/music.
Purchased the rear number plate light camera from fleabay for $22
Bluetooth obdII from fleabay works fine with Torque APP.
Note: Bigger displays will stick up in front of clock.

ID:	656131 which I'd had in my Surf for about a year prior to getting the Prado. So as the buyer of said Surf kept trying the "Low ball" thing some goodies got removed and are slowly finding their way into the Prado. I combined this with the "flea bay" $20 "Number plate light" reversing camera from China which when it turned up seemed to the the Aerpro one. Well aside from the fact that whomever the last owner got to fit the Kenwood stereo that was in my Prado deserves to be shot due to doing the "Cut twist and tape" thing to install it. Well after having to raid my back shed and collection of Surf wiring looms to find original radio plugs (they are the same) so I could "Future proof it" as to keep it all "Plug and play" for later upgrades, well the whole lot works well. In fact a lot better than what it did in the Surf yet I still can't work out why on the digital TV side it still will only get the 4wd show and fishing show

I went for the ebay budget a few years back when i got mine, personally i can't fault the unit after 4years its been awesome, runs onroad of off road maps and i traveled oz with it. though i have heard of others that had the same model reporting dodgy am radio :O I think if you purchase through a decent seller so you are covered you can't go wrong, easy to install yourself if you get the model to fit prado(plug &play).
Back then i picked it up for $240 with reverse camera so it was really a no brainer as i can could buy 4 units to equal a well known branded one.
Its a flip of a coin really, whos says the $1000 unit isn't going to die out of warranty.
            Good luck with the purchase

Well after much searching went with a shock/horror not a Toyota Prado Specific unit, it is a xtrons unit http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10-1-Octa...item2125f7a7d8 comes with some apps on it. Fitted a rear view camera and honestly that was the hardest part the double din head unit took about 10 mins to switch out, I did buy the Toyota to Din quick connects thru Aepro but unit is awesome and looks good in dash. The only thing I would add is because screen is large is when fitting sort of adjust it so it is pointed to the driver as much as possible it did it straight at first and after installing realised and quickly adjusted agian, also use a pillow to let the entire assembled rest without straining wire etc when switching units. I brought mine on a fleabay 20% off deal which come up often. Now just trying to get my head around android operating system.

Just grabbed a reverse camera for my after-market JVC headset, any tips for location and running RCA cable and grabbing a 12V feed for the camera?
