Thought I'd post my stats up now that I finally got off my backside and registered an account here.

10.86L/100 averaged over the 21000km to date. 50% Touring (loaded), 10% low range (usually loaded), 40% Daily commute

2016 GX 2.8L Auto. 2" Lift, Bullbar, underbody, brush bars, steps, fridge, snork, BFG KO2's, 2nd Batt, full rack when touring or offroad.

Judging from the comments here I'm not in a rush to get the ECU upgrade.
    -R
2016 Prado GX 2.8L Auto (The third tourer)
Y61 becomes Y62, R51 becomes R52. Nissan what are you smoking?
2013 Patrol GU 3.0L Auto (The second tourer)
2010 Patrol GU 3.0L Auto (The first tourer)
1991 Patrol GU 4.2 Auto (The training wheels)

First trip away towing a 1.3t van(tare), the 2.8 manual averaged 13.2l/100km over 700km. Cruise set to 100kmh on the freeways, slightly less on country roads. I suspect consumption would be around 14+ at a constant 100kmh on freeway.
Interestingly the first couple of hours the traffic was averaging around 90-95kmh and the computer was showing 12.2l/100km.
Anyway we're happy with that, considerable improvement on the KZJ95, and barely know the van is on the back.

That's impressive....7.78l/100 over almost 1700km....nice! The autos are a good 400-500rpm less at 100kmh than the manual box models.

Around town I get 9.5-10.1L/100 depending on how I drive.
Mods - ARB bar, side steps, kaymar rear bar, 265.70.17 Ko2 BFGs.

Fuel economy was around the 11.3-12 when I was running the Dick Cepek Fun country and the MT MTZs

On my german stock 2017 Executive (similar to VX trim) i get a combined 10.5 l/100 for my driving style, withAutobahn kilometers down to 8.5 at ~120 km/hour. City is usually 12-13 l/100.

I bought a brand new diesel Prado VX in June. I think it has done around 6,500 km now.

When my range is down to say 40km and I fill up it only allows around 120 litres of fuel and the range returns to about 1,250 km.

The tank is 150 litres right? So why doesn't the range increase or show more left if I 'only' add 120 litres?

If I work out the consumption manually on these fill ups it shows a better figure than the car reads. My overall consumption on the car readout is 11 l/100 km but each tank now is showing a figure of around 9.5 l/100 km when calculated manually.

I'm not sure if the tank isn't filling right up but the gauge is right on max or a hair above when I 'fill' it from empty range with 120 litres.

Anyone finding the same refill from the low range tank warning?

Yep very normal. Toyota decided it would be nice for you to think your tank is empty when there's actually 30l left. I believe its so you are less likely to run the tank dry.

Well I did wonder if it was to avoid any issues of low fuel but that's what the bloomin light is for?! Now people are encouraged to drive further without any real idea. Ah well thanks for answering my question. At least I know now the tank is actually full and that means the manual calcs are sub 10 l/100 km.

On a recent trip i went 15km past zerokm range and took 135 litres to fill. Plenty in reserve.
