The 2.8s are certainly capable of returning some impressive consumption figures.
Today I reset the trip computer at Geelong and it was reading 6.5l/100km as I approached the West Gate Bridge...80 odd km distance of near dead flat road, no wind, low 30s temp.
Traffic wasn't too heavy but travelling a bit below 100kmh, I was mainly on about 96kmh. I was quite surprised with the result.

What tyre pressures are you guys running on 265/60/18?

The sticker inside the drivers door says 29 psi front and rear unloaded and 29 psi front 32 psi rear loaded. Yet I received my car new at 36/37 psi all round, I forget which. Why the big difference? The dealer said that's just what they always use which isn't so helpful.

I also filled up today. 140.7 litres and had done 1,313 km so 10.74 l/100 versus the car reading of 10.8. That's close enough for me!

This is a mixture of driving from short suburbs school runs, general 60/80 kph town driving and 3 x a week 100 kph expressway drive.

I run 36psi but if you want a softer ride then go 29psi. 36psi gives better fuel economy.

40 to 42 PSI. The stock tyres seem to be wearing extremely well. 38,000km on the clock and dont even look half worn.

Just did a brim to brim test over 1300km. Average is 9.8l/100km, which is slightly better than the computer calculated. This a was a mixture of city, country roads, and freeway but no off road or towing. Seems like 10l/100km is a good benchmark.
(auto GXL, no bars or major mods. Have had the DPF firmware update. 36 PSI on tyres)

We had a trip upto NSW last dec. std trim car full of gear and returned 8.8lts
Now it's all setup, bull bar, winch, lift, duel batt and 32" tyres it has pulled out to the 12s slightly better on just hwy and worse around town

That said I have not compensated for the lager tyres reading less kms Travelled than factory size

Please, no need to reply, and just a friendly comment, and I dont want to start a discussion on tyre pressures, but personally I run tyre pressures slightly higher than 36....i run around 40 psi on the highway unloaded and up to 44 psi highway when towing...I seem to get better wear, it seems to steer slightly better and i get slightly better fuel consumption but, but but...everyone has different circumstances, different loads and different tyres etc. just a friendly comment that's all. Personally I have found around 36 too low for my liking.

Another run back from Geelong but with cruise control set at just over an indicated 100kmh. Average consumption showing 6.7 as approached Melb

They don't seem to like high speed.

The computer is not to flash on working the the consumption either
I had a short 2 hour FWy stint 110+ a lot on hills
Can't be sure as I filled up via a high flow pump and then re filled at a normal pump but it averaged 18lts ( dash read 14.5 )
                          I was shocked.

Over the next 650km which included Hwy Fwy and 8 hours of lowrange work we returned 12.6lts ( dash read 13.4lts )
Fairly happy with that result considering all the mods and gear

That's the kind of figure I was getting when the DPF was about to sh*t itself.

It's now been 9000km since the new DPF and I didn't reset the computer at all. It's reading 10.7L/100. I don't baby the throttle at all (nor am I a mad person with it), 60% at 80km/hr or above. ARB Bar, Snorkel, UHF antenna, Lights, Tow Bar, BackBone Platform roof rack and around 80Kg of 'gear' inside at all times. That also included a trip off-road around Wombeyan caves/ Oberon and down to the Brindabella's with the roof loaded and car at 2950kg's when we set out over an 8 day period. So I can't complain about all that.

Sad but true, I log mine with an Iphone app called Gas Cubby by Fuelly Lite (also use Road Trip Lite). Put in odo and liters each time you fill up. Graph is a screen shot from the phone.

Readings June/July last year are from a road trip Perth to Alice across the middle towing a 1.5T camper trailer and some low range work - averaged around 15 L/100km. Since then it has been around town and trips to our farm (500 km away, cruise at 100 kph) averaging around 12 L/100km.

Keeping an eye on it as I am concerned about the DPF issue and figure fuel economy will give an indication if it is going bad.

2015 GXL manual 2.8D, alloy bullbar, Cooper 265/65 R17, flat roof rack.
