  • Time for new rubber

    Hi All,

I've been through quite a few of the posts, read heaps and think I'm getting closer to a decision..

I've got a 2014 GXL 150 Series with a 2 inch lift. I'm running the std 265/65R17 and looking at getting something a little bigger.
265/70R17 or even 265/75R17 (4.5mm past legal size...)

I'm looking at the Hankook Dynapro ATM's RF10's or the Yoko Geolander A/T G015 (Special on ATM 3 for 4)

Does anyone have a 2inch lift with those size tyres on? I'm trying to see what it will look like once changed? I'm leaning towards the 265/70R17 ATM..

    Thanks
    Troy

I have a 2" lift with the 265/70/R17s on but mine are BFG A/T KO2, no issues with those tyres but can't speak to the Hankook's or Yokos sorry.

Have coopers, but a friend has Hankooks and he swears by them. I'll be having a close look at them next time around...

265/70/17 MT ATZ 4Rib for the last 100.000ks. No issues to date. Hope the P3's are just as good although I have at least another 20.000ks left on mine.

        Cheers

I have been looking around for a while, I'm fairly sold on the yoko GO15s seem like a good tread pattern and very well priced.
Over the years I have had at least 1 set from all the big brands can't say I have ever been disappointed so I'm happy to give the yokies a shot

I am on my second set of Coopers, first set AT's (90,000klms) 265/65R17 ;-) second set ST MAXX (40,000klms) 265/70R17 ;-(
I reckon BFG's will be my next choice, the last set of Coopers have been a pain in the butt to keep balanced and are wearing uneven
I wouldn't go for the 75's, I'm thinking of going back to 65's to gain a bit of power back, you really feel the power loss when you go up in size

I just fitted my second set of BFG's, last set of 5 lasted 100,000km with 3-4 mm remaining. The pair on the rear axle though did get a bit chewed up on the Sturt Stony desert 18 months ago.

I had a work Pootrol a few years ago that had Coopers on it and they were abysmal for balance.

I have been asked why I stick with the 265/65's.. There's your reason..

This website does a potentially useful tyre size comparison that might provide some useful information.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

With re to tyre sizing, I was looking at a) by slightly increasing the height of the tyre it would fill in the wheel arch a bit more. (Have a 2 inch lift on there) and b) would lift the diff about a half inch.

Also when when on the beach, deflated I'd have a wider spread but guessing the extra height would be negated by the deflate?

Should I just go slightly wider and stay at the 65 height?

                    Hi guys
I too am also looking for feedback on tyres.
                    265/60/18 for the Kakadu
I have narrowed it down to the following 2, I would appreciate anyone who has used
                    bridgestone duellers AT D697 LT
                    Cooper AT3 LT
there are so many negative stories so hence why I wont your feedback if you have them on your prado's!
                    thanks in advance
                    Ben

I'll be putting on a set of BFG at tko2's in the next month or so. Had the original tko's on a previous vehicle and they were amazing. Plus I reckon they're the best looking tyres around.

Waiting for Costco's Bridgestone promo to finish and hopefully start their michelin one.

I have Yoko's on my VX and when they wear out (50K and no where near it yet) I'll get another set. Great tyres.

Mate has 285 Yokos on his Prado and his Trayback before that. Loves them. Have seen them in action in some nasty rock tracks in Exmouth and sunk fast in wet beach sand trying to pull a (stuck) 2 tonne boat out of the water. They are impressive in action.

Costco deal is now active. I'll be getting some BFG's 265/65/r17's for my 14 Altitude prado. $100 off.
