  • Air Filter for 2.8 ltr D4D

Hi all. I was researching air filters for my 2015 GXL with the 2.8 ltr 1GD-FTV engine. I thought a RYCO A1522 would work but noticed that their "filter finder" did not actually list a filter for this vehicle. I sent them a query and got this response:

    "Thank you for contacting us.
The part number for your Prado will be A1915, however this part number is in development still.
We are hoping to have it in about 4 months or so.
    I do apologise.
I hope you have a great day."

So before I race down to the stealership I was wondering what others where using. Thanks.

    Cheers Faulco

Why would you want to change your air filter to a different brand?

        Genuine will be the go,

K&N are great until you have to clean And re oil
Hard to dry and oil tends to play havoc with the MAF sensors

Thanks for the replies. I am normally a genuine parts only person but choked at paying over $90 for a fuel transfer system filter which has to be replaced every 20K. This lead me to look at other options and Ryco seems quite reasonable (their fuel transfer filter is less than half the Toyota price). However it turns out the genuine Denso air filter is less than $10 more expensive than the Ryco so for the air filter I've gone genuine. I'm not knocking K&N but I prefer to install new filters and I agree with the comments Phs has made.

While you are sending queries to Ryco you should ask them to put the filters into a service kit, I use the RSK-16C for $72 from sparesbox on special. it's a great deal, I have asked them to switch out the Z699 (fuel filter) for the Z780 - underbody filter, they seemed open to the idea. however I think a few more people need to get onboard.

            Lee.
