  • Exhaust gas getting into cabin.

Trying to solve a problem with a gas (exhaust I think) getting into the cabin. Usually only happens when the engine is under load between 50-80km/h with the widow or windows open and occasionally when widows are closed. I have had some work done to the vehicle including a Taipan exhaust, chip and fuel enhancer. I have had it back to Taipan and no exhaust leak was found although it was only tested on a hoist and not in under load whilst driving. I thought perhaps it was the AC but that gas is generally odourless. Any input would be appreciated. Cheers

Is it sulphurous in any way?

I had a battery venting gas when it was on the way out a couple of years ago. You could see some fluid had spilled out the top of it and the odour was only there under certain conditions. Initially i thought it was other cars exhaust, until there were no other cars around and it persisted.

Is the exhaust tip shorter than previous? This could be sucking fumes back under the vacuum behind the car.
Is your rear door seal in good condition and seals well all around it?
Are your rear windows popped open? (Do the rear 1/4 windows pop on a 150? I cant think for the life of me)...
Is your chip fuelling the car more, meaning possibly more fumes.

Batteries have both been replaced and smell only appears when engine is under load.

Exhaust is basically in the same place as original. And the problem didn't exist for years with exhaust fitted.
All the door seals are in good condition.
Rear windows don't pop on the 150.
I have done some tests in the past with the chip and fuel enhancer with no change. Maybe I should try again.

We are probably discussing different smell, but I do smell something when the 2.8 is doing a long uphill driving. I think it is normal, as I smell the same thing in a new land rover. But what is it?
