It's interesting to read (here) how the Prado seems to be the top selling non-ute 4WD so far this year. I don't know the price comparison between Prados and the other utes like the Ranger and Hilux, but that might be a factor. If only such sales figures led to more focussed mod manufacture for us (although it's more an issue of affording such things than their availability)!

I have long held the view that Toyota has been living in a dream world for some time, retaining sales based on their former glory days, when there were few real competitors (assassins please note that I own a 2016 Prado Kakadu). The fact that Toyota are now "talking about" increasing the Prado towing weight to 3 tonnes (years after the horse has well and truly bolted), somewhat sustains this argument. Whilst I have no issues with the 4 wheel drive capabilities of my Kakadu, one does get a bit depressed when comparing compliance plate towing limits with vehicles half the cost! At the end of the day, most buyers look at value for money when buying vehicles and the large range of cheapies that will do more for far less are most definitely biting at the heals of the veritable Toyota!

Speaking of pet hates, mine is that my Kakadu has many copies of the hardware and software that were in my previous Lexus ISF but where as in the Lexus it was state of the art, in the Kakadu it rarely works properly, if at all!Last edited by pradokakadudavid; 25-05-2017, 02:29 PM.

No bullbar. On the facelift lights, it is the "front position lights (halogen)" - well that's what my manual calls them. There are 3 LEDs that run top to bottom, alongside the radiator.
Just checked the toyota site (http://www.toyota.com.au/prado) and they show it std for all new models. It looks pretty good - minimal and not pretentious like the European bling you see around these days.
