  • Best place for a KDSS suspension lift in Adelaide

    Hi guys, just got a new Kakadu and want to get lift fitted to give me clearance when we are off road.

    Heard all the issues- so what I a, wondering is who in Adelaide would be best to see for 2 inch kit fitted possibly with airbags in the rear. As we tow a boat or camper trailer regularly.

    Getting a Arab summit bar fitted this week.

    In terms of components- is there any brands I should go with? I had ironman adjustable foam cell on my. Last caramd they were great.

    What sort of budget should I have in mind for a middl of the range solution?

    Airbag man do the 2" kit for the rear, you will retain the self levelling rear and manual mode in cabin
    So you will need a kit to suit the front and rear shocks.

    Best approach is have your installer supply the kit, even better find someone that has done a Kakadu in the past
    Can't help In Adelaide mate but know a few in vic.

    We just had an ARB BP51 kit fitted, we went for a run yesterday and nothing short of brilliant !
    Not cheap but when your forking out 90+ K for a car I was nt too keen on saving a few K on suspension as it's something you will use every day

      Southern performance at Lonsdale can help you out. They've done air bag rear prado's before.

          I will give southern performance a call tomorrow. I was told today by a place out north that because of the comfort ride setting on the Kakadu you can't change springs or shocks otherwise car goes into limp mode?
          Do the ARB 51's allow this electronic wizardry of comfort setting to be overridden?

          Airbag mans sounds good a will certainly help when I tow the camper

              Unplugging shocks is not issue, no fault codes.

              you can use any make shocks
              But best get front coilovers that are hight adjustable to sort the KDSS lean out, ie BP51s, foxracing, ironman
              As for the rear I think keeping the rear aig bags is the better option and the kit from airbag man will retain the self levelling functionality

                Side note, first Kakadu prototype coil conversion now complete with very minimal lean.

                  Thanks aMTS is that through Lonsdale? Who did the prototype cool conversion? Does that render the back lift useless? Or are you talking about front only?

                    Spoke to Steve at Southern Performance. Excellent advice and says he knows exactly how it needs to be done- done it before and used to work for Toyota. Thanks for all your advice and I will post photos next week once I pick scooby up!!

                      No, I'm doing them. Remove the rear factory airbags and replace with custom made coils.

                        They will get fault codes, 4 of them, however these codes should not cause any issue with the car and just sit in history. It should not throw it into limp mode or anything. I've had said codes on mine for 8 years plus. No worries.

                          Hi Piggy,

                          No lights on my dash, Or anything to indicate a fault,
                          But I have not plugged in Techstream ill have a look next time I have the laptop out.

                            Hi amts,

                            Why do you want to ditch the rear Airbags ?
                            Personally I think there great.

                            - they self level according to your load
                            - you can manually adjust hight via the cabin for low speed work

                            Springs can be a pain going from empty to full loaded or vise versa

                              Steve and Hayden both know their stuff.

                              They also do injector changeovers and egr blanks etc. on Diesel prados.
