  • Max Tyre Size on GXL

What is the maximum size tyres anyone has put on a GXL? I have a set of BFG K02 A/T, 265/65R17. I would like to to go 275 or 285 60, but will I be able to without using Hub Adaptors?

biggest size to fit on standard rims is 265/70/17. To fit 275 or 285/70/17 you need wheels with a +15 to 0 offset. Standard wheels are +25

I have 275/65R17 BFG KO2 AT on my GXL and they fit fine.
The spare also fits under the cover on the rear.

Check with your insurance company, if you have an accident with tyres other than recommended on the inside of the door, they may not pay
                    Cheers

From an insurance prospective any tyre size change is questionable due to ESC
as for asking your insurer that means nothing they will happily add it - but it is not there job to tell you what Does or does not meet road worthy Std .
You need to be aware of this, personally I think adding tyre size increase to a policy could do more harm than good

As long as it is roadworthy, insurance will cover it.

                          Correct,

And any tyre size increase is a gray area for a roadworthy on cars fitted with Esc

Hey Slippery I was leaning toward 285s as they look great but after talking to a bob jane dealer he said they lost a court case against an insurance company after an accident as 285s are technically 7.2% when the legal allowable in nsw is 7% larger without engineering. You could try discussing it with your insurance company but I'd make sure you get their response in writing if they say yes. So I believe the largest legal size will be 275/70/17 which is what I plan to fit.
