  • worrying problem with engine

    Hi guys
So I have a 1kd 3.0l d4d engine in a hiace which has just developed a wierd problem with no lights showing on dash.
After a fair run on a motorway (motor fine at this point) I would come to a stop at some lights, whereupon it will idle for a short while , then stall.
It turns over pretty much straight away but jabbing the accererator has no effect. I have to sit there repeatedly trying to get some revs up to pull away which it does eventually.
Problem only seems to present after a sustained run and then sitting at idle.
Had fuel filter changed which was full of crap. Mechanic also said there were brass shavings in there.
Van blows no smoke and runs well otherwise.
    2008 with 200000 ks on.
Thought it might have been crapppy fuel so put injector cleaner through which hasnt cured it.
well, I thought I'd ask you guys opinion before handing it back to mechanic.
    cheers for any thoughts
    Graham

Perhaps an injector jammed shut. Those symptoms match mine when it had that issue. Does it run rough at low revs?

nope. for the most part it runs fine.
it happens infrequently which is troubling. def after a long sustained motorway run but not on shorter journeys.
I had a petrol car do something similar that was auto choke related comng on when hot. i just diont know.

Have you checked the MAF sensor?
I had a similar problem on a totally different car but symptoms the same. I can't remember if i cleaned or replaced the MAF and problem solved.

Ditto on trying to clean the MAF sensor, or replace it.
