Hi all, I've got a 2010 Prado 150 kaka. I've recently given it a steel ARB bullbar and dual batts. I would like to give the front end a 2 inch lift but not sure of best method. I spend 99% of the time on-road and 1% on the beach: Fraser/Moreton/Inskip/Teewah. I don't do any other serious off-roading and don't want to lift the rear. I was hoping to get airbags in the front so I could lift when I'm on the beach and lower when I'm on-road (to save fuel) but there's no such product. Then I was thinking of getting a 25mm front strut spacers but I've heard they can do damage in the long run? I'm a bit lost to be honest. Just want a simple solution to get about 2 inches more at the front. Any tips appreciated. cheers Dave

2 inch front lift for kakadu?

Correct, there are no options for airbags at the front because it is a strut assembly.
25mm strut spacers are just asking for trouble. You will end up with bent strut stems.
Best option is KDSS specific front springs. Are you wanting to lift the front end by 2" from its current height or 2" over the factory height? Whichever way you go, ensure that you have the 30-40mm of rake front to rear.

Hi amts, thanks for responding - I was hoping you would. From what I've read on this topic you seem to know more than most.
I will go for KDSS specific front springs. I just want to lift the front 2" from its current height (with bbar and batts), not 2" above factory height. Let me know if that makes any difference.
Also does "30-40mm of rake front to rear" mean the front is 30-40mm lower than the rear? (Sorry if that's a stupid Q. I'm new to this stuff.)
End of the day I'm just trying to reduce the extent to which my front bash plates act like a bulldozer on sand tracks with deep wheel ruts.
cheers

Our front was about the same with similar accessories but the rear seems fairly low
Our Kakadu was 750 ish at the front 790 at the back with
- Std suspension
- dual batts
- OL Bullbar with 9t winch
Try turning car on change rear ride hight to high or low then back to normal and re measure
As amts said best measure on flat ground, flat garage or flat carparkLast edited by Phs; 29-05-2017, 06:15 PM.

Thanks.
yep I made a point of finding flattest concrete I could for the measure.
front seems about right given the bbar & batts.
rear is about right on pass side but low on drivers side.
I don't know if it's relevant but:
- my kdss warning light comes on every now and then for a short time?
- previous owner/driver of the car was a big bloke. 150kg plus

No surprise ARB have told you that.
They are not keen on doing Kakadu's but they will do a VX with KDSS which from what I can see is harder to level out the only difference from ARBs perspective on the VX vs Kak is the kak runs rear air bags
I had it all installed via an ARB dealer they Used BP51 front strut assemblies to suit KDSS 150 Prado
Front Parts no. To suit KDSS Are
BP5190002R
BP5190004L
Rear Airbag kit is a 2" lift and is from airbag man specifically for this model
I used the BP51s to suit the 150 Prado rear
Part no. Are
BP5160025
All the remote res canister mounting brackets work in the same position as the VX model
They have gone to a fair extent with these mounts there solid and put the canisters out of harms way
Car now rides great on and off-road, I adjusted the compression and rebound dampening on the shocks and have found a happy medium for my usually on/off-road work.
In my opinion it was worth the $$
Photo attached from this Weekend I am happy with the ride hight

I am trying to do the same with my 2010 Kakadu. Finding it near impossible to find anyone willing to touch it. Did ARB fit the rear AirBag Man lift kit too? I am in NSW (Bathurst) so looking for somewhere in Sydney to do it.2009 150 D4D Kakadu | Ebony Blue | TJM Winch Bar

Yeah they did the whole thing including the Airbag man kit
As you have found they don't want to know about the Kakadu. I have spoken to ARB head office a few times as they are my closest dealer but they won't say why just that they don't do a kit which in a way is true as they don't make replacement bags. AIRBAG MAN do.
Im more then happy for anyone to correct me but from my understanding as far as Lift is concerned the only difference from a VX to Kakadu is the rear bags ( Tems shocks ) but that's not really an issue
The only thing they said to me was they were not sure if the rear canister brackets would fit as they have never put them on a Kakadu but they did fit so all good
Can't help you in other states but in vic I know of 3 places they will do Kakadu lifts
- YarraValley 4wd Healesville ( ARB )
- Dobinsons Dandenong ( Dobinsons )
- Statewide 4x4 Keilor ( Ironmam )
Take your pick come down and make a week of it plenty of 4wding4wding in vic
Alternatively
Call Airbag man I'm sure they can tell you who installs there kits
They only thing Airbag man say is do not exceed 625mm open shock lengthLast edited by Phs; 13-06-2017, 03:14 PM.
