  • Don’t they even drop the oil and filter in that first check ?

    • Just wanted to check with those that have a nudge bar if middle front sensors are compatible. Picked up GXL last week and it only has side front sensors . Dealer said the middle fronts were not compatible with the bar, which defeats the purpose with parking for me.

They put the middle front sensors on the nudge bar itself. See some photos on page 35 of this thread. However, if you have a VX/Kakadu, nudge bar creates a problem with the front camera vision. What's your reason for wanting a nudge bar?

Found your post a little interesting because my Kakadu has the sensors moved from the bumper to the nudge bar so had a look on the Toyota website customise page......the nudge bar for a GXL is different to the VX/Kakadu, it doesnt have the provisions for mounting the sensors. If i was you, i'd be telling my dealer to replace the nudge bar with one for a VX/Kakadu so the sensors i paid for could be used....you would think dealers would know to do this if you optioned parking sensors and nudge bar on a GXL.

No.....it's only an inspection, checking nuts, bolts, levels and to correct any issues you may have(such as my low beam adjustment). I'm sure if you insisted on an oil and filter change they'd be happy to oblige(for a price). If i kept my cars long term i'd probably get it done but i usually turn them over every 3-4 years before they get to 100,000kms so don't bother with it.

If that is what's happened here it's absolutely outrageous and I'd be kicking off about it. You pay money for the sensors on the GXL and then they stiff you with an incompatible nudge bar? Ridiculous.

                • Thanks everyone for replies.Checked accessory page and on closer inspection the GXL nudge bar has definitely got front sensors mounted on it. Have queried dealer and told them i want them fitted.
Bar is fairly solid and main reason for getting it is I didn't want full bull bar and want to mount light bar.

How's your Kakadu's front view camera working after installing the nudge bar? My front camera's view is largely blocked by the shiny nudge bar. Wonder if this is an installation issue or a design flaw that's happening to others as well?

Same as yours by the sounds of it......about 50% view blocked by the nudge bar, i did expect it though because a workmate has a 2015 Kakadu with ARB bullbar fitted and his is worse plus when he added a big pair of round led driving lights it narrowed the field of view on each side even further! Unfortunately, unless there was a way of bringing the camera forward, loosing some field of view will happen with anything you bolt on the front end......sadly it's a bit of a compromise.

ARB sell a relocation kit, I got one a while back but have not put it on yet.

Have they improved the new cameras ? The old one are fairly average anyhow

That's good to know. The cameras are still the same, fairly average.....can't say i'll use the front camera much anyway, the rear is the most important imo and the sides can also be useful..... what i love is the outside mirrors that can be set up to tilt down as much as you like whenever you select reverse.....thats brilliant!!

I presume side mirror tilting is not a default. If you don't mind me asking, how do you set this up?

Page 160 of the Owners Manual......very easy, you put the car in reverse, select L or R mirror switch and adjust to whatever position suits you and then leave the switch in either L or R position. It memorises the mirror position and will move the mirrors to that position everytime you select reverse. To disable the funtion move the L or R mirror selector switch to the neutral position.

Does anyone know if this is a feature on all of the models or just VX and above?
