My 2010 diesel prado never used to whistle.
Then one weekend i fitted a safari snorkel, provent 200 catch can, fuel manager final filter, egr 7mm restrictor plate and did a decarb clean back to the intake elbow. It started whistling straight after that.
The whistle comes on only when the engine warms up. It starts when the coolant temperature gets to about 55 degrees, comes on under load at 1600rpm and is noticeable through to 2000rpm.
It all pointed towards a vacuum leak, so i pulled the intake out again, replaced all gaskets, tightened everything up, checked that the egr plate was in tight, but to no avail. Exactly the same.
Ive sprayed carb cleaner onto every junction and hose that i could get to, but no change to engine revs at all.
Other than starting to replace the vacuum lines one by one, I'm at a complete loss.
Can anyone suggest anything else that i can try before it drives me bonkers?
