  • Boost, EGT, Trans Temp, setup?

Hi guys, getting serious about some gauges now.

Looking to understand what you all run for these?
Boost, EGT, Trans Temp setup? Maybe also include voltage and coolant temp.

We are planning a trip from Perth to Darwin and back early next year, so thinking some monitoring is a good thing towing the Jayco.

Am I on the right path with Scangauge II plus 2x 52mm Gauges for Boost and EGT?

I currently run the Torque Pro app on my phone for everything except EGT's as there's no factory sensor.
The scangauge will give you pretty much the same thing. You just need to run the probe and gauge for EGT's and you're set.

Google Madman EMS. I have one fitted, it gives you all necessary including EGT.
      cheers

i would recommend an oil temperature gauge as you didnt mention it on the list! oil has a higher working temps compared to coolant and is involved in rotational and friction areas in the engine causing it to be higher in temps. I even have noticed AT prados tend to down perform in power when the AT temps goes up too.

The oil cooler is in contact with the coolant circuit. If your oil temp skyrockets you will know about it immediately if you have coolant temp readout.. You can see it all happen if you sink the boot for an extended period. If you keep the coolant temp below the recommended 100C then your oil temp will not be an issue. Your oil pressure will give you a good indication of oil temp. After a long climb my 1KZ will drop below 10PSI at idle for a few minutes until the oil cools and restores the pressure.
            cheers

This setup was cheap and monitors a heap of parameters. The oil temp is auto transmission oil which climbs really quickly when towing and out of converter lock. Can datalog and all functions have adjustable alarms if you're keen enough to bother. You can flip from screen to screen or just leave it with the items you monitor most often which is what I've done.

Cheers, any more info on this setup. I like the look of it too.

Bought on an e-bay store for a bit over $200, Defi knock off made in China.
Has a processor that all the sensors run to, then a tiny cable goes to the display.
Another cable runs from the display to the hand control which I've tossed in the big hole, top of passenger's side dashboard.
You use the hand control to set your various options and after that it's not really needed.
Apart from the 6-functions that I monitor, there's also RPM, speed, time and air/fuel ratio.
Was cheap enough, a bit difficult to install as most of the sensor wires were too short to reach where I mounted the processor. Once installed though she's works fine (touch wood)
I mounted the display on the top right driver's side of the dash, fits perfectly in the space and doesn't block any vision. Double sided sticky comes in the kit.
I lifted my dash mat and it hides underneath for those really hot days.
