Hi all, looking for some suggestions. I am looking at changing my Prado D4D to more of a daily drive, lower it for shopping centres, more comfy and road compliant as I rarely 4wd these days, and it is the wifes DD. I still camp on the odd occasion and tow a boat with tow ball weight of 120kg every couple of weeks. I currently have Dobinson 325/350 coils with Bilstein shocks and airbags, and have just changed the tyres back to the stock size of 265/65/17. (It already drives better). the car currently sits at 790/95 front and 830/35mm rear. I am thinking of moving the cir clip in the front strut down to one notch, which should lower my front by about 15mm. I am considering replacing my rear coils to lower it to about 815mm. Any suggestions on what coil to use. I have looked at the ARB 35mm lift but cannot find any one with these coils.

If the rear weight is standard, then King springs KTRS-102 or possibly Dobinsons C59-323. (This brochure seems to suggest that the C59-325 is a 30mm lift - http://www.dobinsons.pl/reall/adm/up...ta/TOY-100.pdf but his one shows a 45mm lift - http://www.dobinsons.pl/reall/adm/up...ota/TOY-82.pdf) C59-323 is one step down from C59-325, so it would be logical from your own experience that the C59-323 will lower the rear from its current height.
Check your airbags as they have different lengths for lifted and non-lifted applications. If needed, it would just be a matter of cutting down the upper spring isolators to suit.

Thanks, I will have a look at the Kings. I phoned Dobinsons six months ago, and they did not offer any suggestions, as the next coil down (323 probably) was not good or towing. Most coils are rated at ride height with the 100kg or 300kg. So the 327 are probably 30-40mm with 200kg in them. I would still prefer a coil similar to what I have, which I think is 220pds/inch to 260pds/inch, but with a lower ride height.
I will need to change the airbags as I have the above 2" lift air bags.

Maybe 323 with a coil spacer??
Would like to speak to someone who has installed the ARB 35mm lift, 2895E or 2895.
I (like thousands of others) have the 889's in the rear (400mm/260lb) but with just the empty fridge in the rear it sits around your existing 830mm...
p.s I've dispensed with the airbags in the 150 (had em in the 120) & my ball weight is around 150kgs) I wasnt happy with the dynamics of having a progressive rate in the rear.Cheers
Micheal.

ARB have 2 sets of 35mm coils both 260pds, one at 390mm using 16mm wire and the other at 375mm using 17mm wire. I am guessing these should sit about 815mm of the 889's sit around the 830mm which is probably about right for height. ARB are not real good with returns if the coils are not right.

I want to do it too. Which springs and suspension parts are you going to use? I mean like spring manufacturer and so on. I don't know which of them are better so I would appreciate your help on it. Thanks in advance!Last edited by trevordd; 20-06-2017, 06:50 PM.
