  • Second Hand Prado Buyer "newby"

    Hey guys,
I'm completely new to this forum and I'm loving all the info.
    I'm close to a done deal for a 150 2009 VX D4D.
My only concern is it has 200,000 on the clock.
Is there anything I should be worried about with this model with such high km's.
And what are some key pointers I should be looking at when inspecting.
I really appreciate the heads up!!!

Welcome Deanbee. Check the service history in particular with regard to the injectors. Have they been changed and when. Have a good read of the threads on injector failure and the consequences as well as the precautions. Will probably need auto fluid changed as well. If you maintain it well it will be good for another 350k+. 200000 is not a high range by any means as they are a well built unit but little things will need attention to keep it reliable. Also have a good read of the buying a Prado threads, plenty of good info there.
1997 petrol auto, 430 000km. Still going strong.
2004 petrol auto, 233 000km. Cracked dash and no help from Toyota!

+1. Also check it has had the timing belt done.

200,000 km, its just been run in if its been well serviced.

          Thanks heaps for the reply,
yeah ive been told they will go forever if there looked after.
The service history says nothing about the injectors, but it does say the timing belt has been done.
Also how do I know if its been offroad or not? The dealer says that they don't sell cars that have been on the beach but they'll tell you anything

Do your research, there are plenty of disappointed D4D owners out there, some never have a problem, others have major failures, not only injectors.
Would I buy a another D4D thinking I am getting a durable dependable Toyota,....... I don't think so.

Got the D4D blues, Oh what a feeling ;-(
