  • Wing Mirror not Resetting Properly

My right hand wing mirror is not resetting in to the correct position. I banged it on the chimney at home reversing in a few months ago admittedly but it was working fine. The other day, it started folding further out (if that makes sense) every time I start it. If I hit the fold button, it pulls the mirror in, I hit it again and it goes too far out again. I cant get it to "centre" without manually pulling the mirror back a little but it seems loose. Any clues?

Unfortunately it sounds like it's busted and an expensive replacement.

Went to a Toyota dealer near work Sat morning, confirmed its cactus. $1050 for genuine replacement (with colour coded cover) plus $150 to fit. For the time being, I pulled the mirror off, pulled out the purple wire to isolate the folding module power supply to it.

Got a second hand one in perfect condition, same colour for $700. Took the old one apart and found the offending broken actuator. I found one on here (same part number so should be the same):
        https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_...+7381&_sacat=0
Can also get a new indicator for $40 (non gen).
I reckon it might be worth a punt trying to fix it. At worst, I'll have a spare.

N you will be surprise it will work. Here prices are way too over for everything. E.g. I brought genuine toyota oil filter from USA $105 delivered(10 unit). Single cost here $35 from toyota. This is not just toyota BMW/Audi is same. So next time try to find part no google it you will find way to cheaper options.

My door lock actuator stopped working, Toyota price $370, Amyama $170, ebay /alibaba $30, electric motor inside lock actuator $2 on eBay. The difficulty is finding part numbers.

What sucks is that the door lock is not designed to be repaired, it's a throw away design and not that easy to pull apart. I hate the way everything is not designed to be repaired any more.

This actuator looked impossible to take out also. The cables run through it and you think how the hell do take them out with cutting and re-soldering. But with abit of deep investigation and fiddling, I found out how to unplug the wiring harnesses and slide them through he actuator and remove it. Now to find the right part.
