150 Rattles common ?

Hey guys,

I solved the rattling windows, no thanks to Toyota who don’t know how to fix it apparently

Lubricating the rubber lining that the window passes through in the side mirror area is the issue funny enough you would have never guessed rubber would be making this noise as it almost sounded metallic, I used autoglym vinyl and rubber care

Also fixed the rear door squeak posted that info in another thread

But still 1 to go

A squeak almost a rattle actually sounds like a cat scratching coming from the right hand side of the dash I was almost positive it was in the dash but with the window down it’s slightly louder

I am starting to think maybe plastic drivers side wheel guard or snorkel.

any suggestions ?

Ive got a crazy little noise coming from the back area, sounds like metal on metal, can only be the cargo barrier mounts (worn).

I’ve had a on again off again rattle from somewhere in the dash on the right hand side. One day I’ll get to it

My 150 is not quite 2 years old, done 45,000kms. Got a lot of similar rattles so far.

- Both rear windows and now driver's window rattle when up
- Rattle on RH side of dash. Thought it was the snorkel, but seems to be inside the cabin
- Back door rattles - I'll try the fix mentioned earlier
- Inner plastic guards squeak

Not impressed as my 120 was over 10 years old with over 200k and had almost no rattles. And the only Toyota dealer here (and for almost 1500ks in any direction) is the worst I've ever dealt with. Seems they have never had any issue at all with any Toyota ever!

I am fairly certain my RH squeak is the safari snorkel, took me over a year to work it out as it’s intermittent but it started the other day and was louder with the window down, I stopped jumped out and started looking for it once I tugged on the snorkel head it started no sure how to fix it, I just re tightened the Ss pillar bolts so far good but can’t be sure it’s fixed just yet

and yes we are not impressed never owned a vehicle with this many rattles and squeaks.
Oh well what can we expect for 90k

I originally thought it was the snorkel, as did the missus as we had a Colorado that had a similar noise. This time, I don't think it is the snorkel. I opened the window which made the noise harder to hear (probly because of the engine noise) and held the snorkel, but could still hear the rattle. It didn't change pitch or anything, hence I think it is in the dash.

Hi Hugsie,

did you find out what the squeak was in your dash. Mine just started making a squeaking noise which seems to be coming from the left hand side dash area. only 5000km on it and started just after some light off road driving!
