      Adjustment tool arrived yesterday. Unfortunately I'm working the next five days so it'll have to wait until Thursday next week.

        Hey marty,

        Yep the buy is still open, and will be open until I work my way to the end of the list! Keep in mind I'm constrained by stock supply, which can go up and down. It has taken me 6 weeks to revalve my way through half of the list.

        Just lemme know if you'd like to join!

          Hey Barrie,

          You'll need to drop the swaybar off completely to do an in-situ height adjustment. Get the front end up on jack stands, wheels off at full droop. Disconnect the swaybar both sides at the links on the hub arm and at the chassis. This will create the room required to fit in the big Ironman c-spanner. Strap the swaybar up out of the way...you may need to strap one side up at a time.

          Any issues just call me!

            Mark,

            Can you please comment on your valving vs. the standard recommended by Ironman for FJs 45710FE & 45682FEC for rear?
            How about your recommendation for front springs rating vs. Ironman's 827 lbs/in?
            What is your view on the Kings KTPR-102 progressive rate springs for the FJ? What spring rates are these coils, do you know?

            Thanking you in advance

            Howard

                Hey Howard,

                All of the answers to these questions were discussed in detail in another thread that was running before the group buy started;

                http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...-foamcell-pros

                Unfortunately all of my plots showing the valving are lost due to photobucket, so briefly;

                My custom strut valving runs higher critical damping and higher rebound than the Ironman spec 45710FE valving, effective over 650-700lb/in.

                My custom rear valving similarly runs considerably higher critical damping and rebound than the 45682FEC, targeted at a 260-280lb/in coil rate. The FEC valving is normally run with softer 235lb/in.

                For both front and rear, the knee velocities are chosen carefully to maximise kinematic control.

                817lb/in is too high in my opinion, and outside the effective range of the valving. 725lb/in Dobinsons (150 Prado spec) are more optimal for the valving. C59-352 is my go to coil for heavy front ends.

                Progressive coils aren't my cup of tea, most Kings end up functioning more like classical stacker coils with the soft section completely coil bound at ride height. KTPR-102 is 190-320lb/in, see here for a lot of details on suspension that fits both the Prado and FJ;

                  Thank you Mark for your clarification and link.

                  Please add me to the list. I will email you my car set up etc.

                  For some visualisation of the install method, I found a YouTube video for a 4Runner and OME front strut replacement that may clear up amts method.

                    I've added you to the list!

                    Scary damage on the shafts on those old ARB struts in the videos, seen them rub before but nothing like that, not sure his bushes were tight!

                    • The only error on the second part of the video is the lower shock bolt being torqued up while the strut is at full extension.

                      It should be torqued up at normal ride height with the weight of the vehicle on the strut and be bounced around to sit at normal height. If not, the rubber bush will always be stressed, and it will fail early.

                        Can you please add me to the list. I have driven the car over the last few weekends and decided to change out the factory suspension sooner than 2018. I will get an email to you with the details early next week when I get a bit of time to get it all together.

                        Cheers,

                        • Hi Mark,

                          I apologise if this has been answered already but do you have a combo suitable for the 150 Prado with KDSS (Mine is a 2009 Kakadu)? I changed out the front springs for Dobinsons ones as in my signature some time ago but am still running OEM everything else. I think the springs were done around 40,000kms but am now around 85,000kms (yes original kms lol).

                          Again apologies if it's been answered already but have spent some time in hospital when my surgery had complications, just came home on Tuesday.

                              Hey,

                              I have mentioned previously that threaded body struts are a great option for trying to sort KDSS leans out. I'm not sure if anyone on PP with a Kakadu is using height adjustable threaded struts and playing with fine tuning the KDSS lean??

                              With the threaded body struts, there's no need to get KDSS specific coils for the front, just get the same free height coils and change the preload side to side as necessary to eliminate any lean.

                              I think the real hassle for KDSS will be that even when you have threaded body height adjustable struts which you can tune into the millimetre, the KDSS can still muck up and go out of whack if you park on a side to side incline. Sometimes it returns and evens out, other times it doesn't and you get a new lean.

                              So yes threaded body height adjustable struts can help, but you may be in there with the c-spanner a lot fiddling your ride heights as the KDSS plays up!

                              The Ironman 45710FE struts I'm selling on this Ironman group buy are height adjustable, and will fit a KDSS Prado.

                              Hope this gives you an idea at least!
