  • Surge Prado 120 Series D4D

    Hi
Have just joined prado point having recently bought a s/h 120 series 2007 DHD manual, 165,000 km on clock. On noticing pinging when cold I had the injectors checked and replaced.

About 3000 km later have noticed that whilst holding a throttle setting (~2500 rpm 4th gear) I can feel slight power surging. The surge is brief and noticeable but not dramatic. Welcome thoughts as to what might be causing this and how to remedy.

    Regards

What is needed to connect to the ECU to log faults etc. Can it be done with a pc laptop? Supposedly need special lead to connect with??

If it is a map sensor issue as i have similar surge at 2000 rpm you won't get a error code. Have a obd2 reader attached permanently and no errors have shown up since new.

Get ob2 reader from good automotive spare parts stores $150 est can be ones you mount permanently but think portable one is better option port is white down around right knee when driving under the dash close to fuse holder. Looks like a oversized sub D computer connector

I have to admit I don't know what the maf sensor and map filter are or where to find them. Or the suction control valve. Can someone assist on this and I'll do as suggested. I should get a workshop manual as well

Just been doing some web research so I now know a bit about the MAF sensor, cleaning etc.

Still need to know more about the map filter. Is it something that can be cleaned or does one replace it. Expensive??
