Second fuel filter for 2016 2.8 litre Prado GXL. Upcoming trip in Western NSW so was wondering what unit others had installed in their 2.8 litre Prado?

Fuel Manager kit bought from Berrima Diesel. Comes with all brackets and is easy to fit. 30 microgram pre filter. Fitted to 2016 2.8 GX

Not suggesting here, as it will void your warranty if sth goes wrong with your 2.8 engine.

You use to beable to get them fitted from the dealer.
I put mine after the factory filter (5micron i think), which then lets the factory water light give you warning and hopefully the secondary catchs rest.

I had a FM100 on my 79 series was easy to install and well put together.

Each to there own as we progress with CRD only fuel quality will lift it already has over the last 5 years
If you are doing a lot of remote fuel stops it's definetly a must if your mainly sticking with mainstream servos.....

Spoke to the Toyota service manager today, and confirmed the installation of additional fuel filter ( Pre or After factory ) will not be any warranty issues, as long as the extra fuel filter is within spec, flow rate, proper installation. I also sent him the link and info of what filter i'm planning to install. He recommend install the fuel filter pre factory fuel filter, because the flow/pressure sensor will flash warning light if the flow rate is not adequate or block filter.

When i checked up my factory fuel filter last night, i discovered there extra two fuel hoses on top inflow and outflow hoses in comparison with 3.0 model. Image below:

(1) Does anyone know what these 2 hoses for?

(2) Is the installation procedure same as 3.0?

(3) Can some one link the image of your 2.8 extra fuel filter set up?

Hi. The extra 2 hoses on the 2.8 are for the DPF - just follow the output to the the DPF. I used the Western Filters pre filter kit - https://www.westernfilters.net.au/fu...separator-kit/.

I thought the 2 extra hoses were connected to a basic heat exchanger system in the filter body , for pre warming the incoming fuel before it gets to the pump?

30 micron is Boulder size, just about let anything through. I would go finer maybe a 11 or a 5 micron size

I've got the 30 micron pre filter fitted. The whole idea is to take out the "boulders" before the 5 micron factory filter so the factory filter can do a better job. It also traps water which can be then seen in a clear bowl at the base of the filter again leaving the factory filter to catch any thing that gets past. Cheers.

3 micron post filter here. OEM one gets most of the crap and the post one gets anything that's left as well as any other water
