Apart from the warranty periods, I do my own servicing and although the manual does not suggest automatic servicing, I was wondering if it would be beneficial to have it serviced, even though the automatic seems to be working perfectly. It has 70,000 km on it and had a pretty easy life, but probably has towed our 19 feet Jayco Starcraft (2400kg) about 10,000km in that time. With our previous Prado 2001, 95 series I dropped the automatic oil about every 12 months and everything went well and want to make sure this one does the same. My search of the forum did not show any threads about the automatic servicing. Brian DJ

If you don't already have an extra transmission cooler I suggest you look up Tin and see if he has brackets, fit a cooler and flush the fluid. Well worth it.My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Had mine changed at 80,000 because I think it is well worthwhile. I note that manual down changing when working hard does keep the transmission temp under control, Carbon Kills. Auto experts have always said nothing kills autos faster than black fluid. Now at 130,000 and the auto still works like new.Prado Polar White 150 GX 3.0 TD Auto. Wholesale automatics recommend doing it. You can buy a service kit with new filter and seals then change the oil. Takes a while to pump in the oil but maybe a 2/5 spanner job. Thanks for your comments. I will give Burpengary Automatics a ring and have a chat, as he has done a couple of jobs for me over the years and is very good and then when I get mine serviced the first time I will watch him, so I can make sure I do it right when I do it. When I have the van on I just about drive it like a manual anyway to keep the revs where I like them. Brian DJ
