Keyless Entry Kit Sugestions

Hi All,

Thinking about adding a Keyless Entry kit to the Prado.

Has anyone else added one to theres?
If so what kit did you go with?
Do you have any suggestions or learnings from your install?

Im going to avoid the cheap $15-$20 jobs on eBay, as i'm a firm believer of "The Poor Man Pays Twice".

Make sure you don't do what I did first time around, I had a combination remote/immobiliser installed and half way down the Canning Stock Route the immobiliser started cutting in and out resulting in me having to keep turning the key on and off while coasting so I could restart the engine. We managed to bypass it at Durba Springs and that solved the problem, but it was nerve wracking until I worked out what was going on. I presume it was cutting in an out as a result of all the corrugations. When I got back to Perth I had it replaced and made sure it was just remote entry.

Mine has a Rino system installed, keyless entry and imobiliser
Works great, just wish the remote buttons were not as prominent, as they are easily bumped when in a pocket.

You may have the central locking already fitted. See your frendly toyota dealer and find out if you have, I think the remotes are about $60 with a learing procedure that is detailed on:

I’m going to assume your Prado already has central locking, in which case you truly are after just a keyless entry module. As an alarm fitter I can honestly say that hands down my favourite is the Viper 211V. It’ll do everything you want, plus more if you have the patience to wire it in. It’s very solid and robust. I have some customers who have been running it for over 10 years and no issues. When fitted by a Viper dealer, it’ll have a lifetime warranty on install and main module. Remotes have a 12 month warranty... with that said, I’ve driven over the top of one of mine in my Prado and it came out relatively unscathed minus some scratches on the plastic.

If you wanted an immobiliser, it does have the feature to run a FailSafe immobiliser which means that even if it did fail... you won’t have the same issues as Rainman haha (Sorry for laughing mate but it would’ve been a sight to see!)
