  • Biggest tyres for 17x9 -12 offset

    Hi,

Does anyone know what the biggest tyres would fit on the above wheels? Would 285/70r17 fit without scrubbing? getting 2 inch lift

You would be increasing track by 74mm. 50mm more than legally allowed. If that doesn't bother you the tyre will be sticking outside the guards. Look at Slipperys kakadu build he is running 285/70 though he hasn't said what offset he is running.

Thanks had a look at Slipperys yhtrad. Looks great but the slight rubbing is a concern. What would you suggest without rubbing?

Assuming this is for a 120, the track increase is 84mm.

Suggest an offset of +15 to avoid rubbing on the mudflaps and body mount. Also will need a good alignment. The tyre brand /model will also affect the amount of rubbing as not all are the same overall size/shape.

Yeah 120. Wheela have been bought already -12 offset. I searhed the forum and have read some have ran offset of -13 so assumed -12 would be ok. Sorry for ignorance but when you say track do you mean height? If so is the concern the 285 or the 70?

Would 275/70r17 -12 offset be better for 120 on 2 inch lift?

Sorry, didn't read the section so amts is 100% correct. Do you need to go bigger than 265/70 17? That is pretty much a 32" tyre. Yes legally you cash go up to 33" but to gain what? An extra 12mm of ground clearance? Cred with the Poohtroll boys? No point in my opinion and P15 wheels push the tyres to the edge of the flares.

Track is width centre of the to centre of tyre. Moist states limit the increase to either 25mm or 50mm. You are way outside those. If you bought from a retailer see if you can return the wheels for something legal.

Anything in negative offset of way too wide. Some guys here run 0 offset and they stick outside the guards. I've never seen anyone running negative. +15 to +10 is my recommendation.
2007 GXL V6 - ARB Bullbar with LED lights, snorkel, extractors, 2 1/4" dual exhaust, K&N filter, dimpled/slotted rotors, headrest dvd players, Ebay Satnav/reverse camera, GME 3100TX, Tigerz11 Side awning on custom brackets with Maxtrax mounts, 300W Invertor, ARB Underbody protection, Lightbar and STZ 265/70 tyres.
Wish list in order I'll get them: Sliders, 2" lift, E-locker, Winch bar with winch.

Thanks guys... So if I stick with 265/70r17 will that increase the height as well over stock 265/65r17? And 265/70 is legal and 275/70 is illegal?

Not sure what NSW rules are but likely up to +50mm is legal. Have a search as amts listed the rules state by state. 275/70 will probably be legal but... for a minimal increase of 7mm your fuel consumption is likely to increase more than the 265/70.

Track is a concern though so look at changing those wheels.

I made a mistake the wheels are actually 17x8.5 with offset -6.. OK I'll suss it out and if 275/70 will be alright otherwise I'll stick 265/70

-6 is still a problem. Talk with your insurer.
