Whats with the rep points

Hey guys,

What's happening with the rep points some of our members are showing. It seems that someone is bagging folk with little real cause. Just because you disagree shouldn't mean you wreck their reputation.

Do they really add anything to the forum. If we want healthy discussion, why not make everyone feel welcome and if they are saying rubbish, let them know. The truth will always shine in the end.

If I had a say I would stop showing the little red and green bars immediately.

I must say I hadn't realised what those things were but now I realise. Some have red marks others with green other have lots some have none.
Do you want me to give you some for this post. I agree that they are not necessary.

Whats with the rep points

This has been covered before and doesn't need a new thread.
Rep is given for good or bad posts. If people are playing games and post stuff that people don't like they might get neg rep. If they post good stuff they might get good rep. Sometimes meg rep over rides good rep and vice versa.
It's funny as people yesterday were trolling to get as many bad rep points as they could.. Deja vu perhaps?

The rep system is also anonymous unless a person posts their name in the comments. Admins and mods can view said logs and it's always he posts that are trolling or not of a good nature that cop the most neg rep, some recently saw a user cop a lot of neg rep as they we're making threats and causing arguments.

If you don't like it don't use it. No one is forcing you too.

Corrigator as you say" if they are saying rubbish let them know" the rep system is exactly that but can be anonymous. Otherwise it then turns into an online slinging match back and forth that ends up with some getting moderated, holidays. Or banned. So maybe you can now see the point in it..
So we want a self imploding forum or one that's neat without the angst some now ex members in the past have tried to create.
I've seen people go from lots of good rep to bad and back again, some people seem to like to push others and obviously get bad rep as such, ultimately if they turn around it all evens out after time.
