2010 Kakadu Auto Service

Hi,

Just had my Kakadu in for its 180,000km service. $$$$$
I've had some auto trans issues overheating on long climbs (Kangaroo Valley accent) so got them to check it out.
The Auto isn't a scheduled service item and is only done when needed.
I was quote $730 for a full auto service. $$$$
Seem's a little steep and was told id have to wait a week for parts.

Has anyone had experience with the auto recently at Toyota?

Hey mate.

The auto service is pretty easy. You can do it yourself if your good with the tools. I'll find the guide I used here. But I would suggest your auto fluid has passed it's used by date.

A trans service may not solve the overheating issues though if it hasn't been changed with 180k on the odometer you are certainly due (if never done before). An aftermarket trans cooler install will certainly help with overheating. There's a big thread on here. Also try to drive in 4th gear, so the trans has a better chance of engaging the torque converter lockup. Having the torque converter unlocked when driving under higher than normal load increases the heat build up in the transmission dramatically.

For the service;
12 litres of Penrite ATF LV will cost around $120-$150 for a full flush and maybe around $200 for Toyota WS ATF. If you do it yourself.
A new pan filter can be had for under $50. It won't solve over heating issues though.
