I'm keen to get into a Prado, and although I was intending to buy used, it seems to me that buying new makes more sense. I'd be really grateful if someone could offer some advice.
If I was buying new, I'd get a GX (I only want 5 seats), so let's say that'll cost me about $58K on the road. (I know there is a 2018 model coming out soon, so I'd wait for that.)
If I was buying used, I'd get a GXL (because 5 seat GX is rare) around 3 years old with 60-80K on the clock. Looking around on carsales.com.au, and assuming a small discount, let's say that would cost me around $45K-$50K on the road.
So we're talking a $8K-$13K saving buying a used GXL versus a new GX.
Buying used means: potential issues, no warranty, tyres with wear, no capped priced services, closer to major $$$ services, older engine and tech.
What would you do?
