  • Rhino backbone mounting system with Pioneer tray height

    Hi Guys,
I'm looking at getting a Rhino Backbone system with Pioneer flat tray but am very limited for height in the garage.

Can someone who has that setup please measure their vehicle from the top of the car where the 3 mounting points are to the top of the Pioneer tray. I'm looking for measurements from the 3 areas just incase they are different heights.

Also what length rack did you guys end up going with

    Thanks for the help

I can do this for you tonight. I have a 42101B platform (1928mm long) mounted on the backbone, also to fit in a low garage.

You probably want a measurement from the very rear of the rack as well, that's the highest point.

I am in the same situation and also interested in these measurements.

Best place to measure is at the center of the opening of the rear door. So open the rear door, stand on the rear bumper, rest tape measure on the roof at the center of the opening and take the measurement to the bottom of the platform. This then gives a good reference point to other parts of the tray. The overall height of the tray is 135mm.

At the centre of rear door from the roof to the top of the pioneer platform is bang on 100mm.

I took a bunch of other measurements before seeing amts' suggestion. All measurements are taken from the side of the car, from the roof to the top of the platform:
          - Front mounting point: 110mm
          - Middle mounting point: 95mm
          - Rear mounting point: 100mm
          - Rear of rack: 105mm

Photo of the rear measurement, which is the highest point above the ground because of the ~30mm rake between front and rear.

Thanks very much for the help, it looks like Ill be able to fit in with 10mm to spare, I put a 115 cardboard box on the roof and was able to drive in so it looks good.

Its going to make it a little hard to fit an awning on but I can work that out.

            Thanks heaps

You can just see my awning in the background of the photo above. It's mounted with the brackets facing down so that it sits next to the rack rather than above it like most people do. It's still a little higher than the platform, ~15mm or so, but if you fit into your garage with a 115mm box on the roof you should fit with an awning mounted this way.

You can see how I mounted it more clearly in this post from my build log: http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...l=1#post568775

No worries, I puzzled over whether it would fit in my garage for ages, happy to help others with the same problem
