Hi guys/girls
I have a 2010 gx manual d4d with 145000 kms.
The last few months I have been having a misfire issue when the car has been sitting on a flat (No hills etc) freeway at a set speed either on cruise control (factory fitted) or myself holding speed limit and when approaching a spot where the car has a load (e.g start of a hill or about to accelerate to overtake) the car will have a 0.5 second misfire and then will resume accelerating.
The pedal isn't flat to the floor just to maintain speed.
Note: I have now got onto the issue because the mrs asked "what was that?" When it happened recently.
This will happen on a 80, 100, 110km/hr road normally between 1800-2300 rpm so it isn't a set rpm issue.
When I am stopping/starting or on the tracks the issue doesn't come about.
I have had the car at a diesel specialist in SE Melbourne for the last 2 days and they thought it was a suction control valve and it apparently helped but didn't fix the issue.
They have tried to put it on a dyno but found the traction control system holding them out.
They have been road testing and road testing and the misfire I explained to them has happened while they have been driving it but because it happens so quick they have said it will require time to go through the data and they think it's a electrical issue.
Note: My regular mechanic puts the scantool on to check injectors each time its serviced (10000 km or before a big trip).
So I want to know what is wrong and the solution before anything major happens and wondering if anyone else has come across this very annoying and unique problem?
Thanks Nathan
