detonating diesels? 120 series

Hi Guys , sorry if the topics been covered?

Im in the market for a 120 series , and im waiting to find a good one!

There has been alot written about the diesels and their issues,

Question?

Should I wait and buy a 150 series diesel? and are their diesels better than the 120 series? im happy to wait a couple of years for a 150 when they drop in price.


Im still happy with my 90 series (which is on lpg) but its pushing 390,000 km's , if its still good , ill hand it down to my boy when he turns 18 in a couple of years. so I/m not in a hurry.

Hi Steven,

Yes there has been a lot written about the D4D 3.0 litre diesel engine and its injector issues. If you search for "injector issue" you will find a lengthy thread in the 150 Series forum right up the top of the list of discovered topics.

Suggest you read up on that thread.

The 150 Series came out with the problematic 3.0 D4D engine and but around September 2015 was the debut of the newer 2.8 diesel motor, equipped with diesel particulate filter.

So if you want to avoid injector maintenance-related issues, wait for a Sept 2015 2.8 diesel to come down to your price point as you are in no hurry.
