  • Any easy way to fit recovery points after fitting ARB bar?

    Hi all,

I fitted an ARB Sahara bar earlier in the year and now we've decided to go to Fraser Island in early October.
As we will be taking our Challenge camper it's highly likely that I might get bogged at some stage, whether at Inskip Point or some of the beach exits and bypass tracks heading up to the Eastern camping zones.

So has anyone fitted recovery points after fitting a bar or are there ones that don't require removal of the bar?

On my last 150 GX I did fit some but on the passenger side I dropped the captive nut when I undid the bolt and I ended up putting a long bolt through the chassis, however on the drivers side I had a long bolt that I screwed into the captive nut from inside the rail as I undid the outside bolt and that held it whilst I fitted the recovery point and refitted the bolt on the outside.
I haven't had a look yet to see if I can maybe do it that way again, just looking to see if anyone has some suggestions.

    cheers,

    Pete.

I fitted the Superior Engineering recovery points with out any problems long after the bull bar was fitted. Also I think Amts would fit the same way.

Easy to do. Took an hour to fit with ARB bar and you can buy them from ebay under $90.

I fitted the ARB recovery points to my Prado 150 with a Sahara bar and found it's not that difficult to pull the bar off, there is maybe 3 or 4 bolts on either side and it just comes away. I thought fitting the recovery points were more difficult to do as the instructions were not very helpful, but I called my local ARB store and spoke to a installer and it was all good. I've not used them for a recovery yet but they make a mess of unsuspecting road going Skippy's.

I recently fitted an ARB recovery point without having to remove my ARB bullbar, but agree with Goggo, the instructions are not the most helpful. Even though the instructions tell you to remove the bullbar so you can manipulate the captive nut tool into place, I found there was already one in there from when they installed the bar. Also the holes they instruct you to drill out to size are already correct on the newer bars. Spend some time under there first and have a good look I reckon!
