Temporarily Remove Second battery

Hi All

I need to temporarily remove my second battery due to it not reaching its desired voltage and take it back for a warranty review.

I have a simple solenoid based dual battery system and was wondering if i remove the second battery, do i just protect the positive terminal from touching anything once the battery is removed and secure it so it doesnt bounce around everywhere?

Is there anything else i should be concerned about?

That's all I did when having my second out for a few days (SBI12 isolator). No problems.

The feed to or from the SBi12 / solenoid should be fused. Pull the fuse. If it is a manual circuit breaker then switch it off. If not then lots of insulation tape and tape the terminal to something so it cannot bounce around.

Just disconnect the earth and tape it up just to be sure...

If the battery is out what will disconnecting the earth do? The best option would be to disconnect the positive from your solenoid if you don't have the fuse option.

It will isolate the circuit - if the loose positive terminal comes into contact with an earthing point/body work you wont have a dead short across the isolator.
Disconnecting both ends of the positive is a good idea if you can gain easy access to the isolator.
