  • Soot problem

I have just picked up a new 2.8 GXL Prado and white in colour. After driving it home from the dealership I noticed the back of the car is covered in black soot.
I thought maybe new car blah blah. It is now 1500 klms old and same result. Washed car on weekend wife drove to shops and bam same crap all over the back.

Get it back to the Dealer as soon as you can, you should not be seeing any soot out the tailpipe (let along on the body) if all is working as it should be...
      Cheers

This is a dealer warranty issues, and I'd stamp on it as quick as possible. You shouldn't see any soot out the back - your DPF is failing. The ECU update will burn it more often, but it sounds as if the burn it's doing isn't working in the first place. After the update, if you get the same result, get the DPF replaced.

Sounds like DPF is missing. DPF should filter out soot altogether and then burn and clear filter every 200 - 300km.

If black soot is building up that quickly, and is indeed coming from the exhaust, you would visibly see smoke behind your car. Have someone drive behind you and put it under load up a hill.
