  • Two stroke in fuel?

Hi guys, just dropped the prado in for a service, and was talking to the owner, and he recommended to add two stroke oil to each tank of fuel, helps lubricate and quiten down the engine? Anyone use this? I've heard of it being used in the older diesels.. thoughts guys? Cheers Odog

I've heard of it, unsure if i want to subject my injectors to it tho. just stick to quality fuel and maybe a dose of injector cleaner ever couple of tanks?

      Which engine KD or KZ?
In 1KZ it does absolutely no harm. I have used it to make AVTUR (kero, a "dry" fuel) into usable diesel type fuel. 4L into a '44 is the mix.
In 1KD I can't speak from experience, but I could see no harm in it at the usual concentration recommended, about 200:1.
They are all hydrocarbons, after all.
      cheers

KD engine, just haven't heard of anyone using it in common rail motor, thought I'd ask the question.. just seems to get a bit of a rattle, I have put chemtec additive in it every second tank, think it does help a bit, this mechanic referred to Baileys that have recommended two stoke, to help with lubrication.. ?
So thought I'd check on PP, to see what comes up..

The oil is meant to replace the sulphur lubrication now that we have ULSD, allegedly the current additives in diesel do the same job. I use it because "it could'n hoight!"
It is in negligible concentration and will combust just like it does in a two stroke engine. Check out your oil when you change it, do you think a little bit of two stroke oil in the diesel will make any difference at all in soot? The only unknown I can see is the effect on a DPF, but once again, given the concentration, it couldn't be any worse than what passes for diesel in some parts.

I ran in in my 1KD after about 100K km up until I had the injectors swapped out at 120K km. It was definitely quieter but there was no difference in fuels economy. 0.3% (300ml to a 100L fill) mineral based, low ash oil was what I was recommended. #### did the injectors and said there was no benefit to it with the DLC injectors, so I've stopped.

In terms of quietness, I'd say the old injectors (which had a bit of rattle) with 2 stroke sounded pretty close to a new set with no 2 stroke.

What mix have you used? I was recommended by a toyota mechanic to use the two stroke oil every second tank or so and to use about 200mls per fill. They recommended it to help lubricate the pump and other hard wearing surfaces within the fuel system.

Would Not recommend for CRD ( D4D )
But will work well with older non CRD fuel systems

Seems to make bugger all difference with all diesel and defintly negative impact with common rail

                    http://www.fuelexpert.co.za/2-stroke...ical-study.php

more detailed in regards to impact on older diesel system system but in German:
                    https://matsch-und-piste.de/zweitakt...er-schaedlich/

Seems like the more "quiet engine" is achieved by have reduced power due to less effective burn by adding 2stroke oil
