There's a thread on the DPF, there's a thread on the ECU Recall. This is an experience of the DPF post-recall...
So around 8000km's ago I got the ECU/ DPF recall done on the 2016 GXL. Since then, I've been running 0.7 L/100 more than what I did prior to that. However, today I managed to pour thick white smoke for around 3Km's - just accelerating from 0km to 80km up a slight incline (and I'm not a lead foot). The poor car behind was swamped. To me, that would suggest the DPF is cactus - it had two smaller white-smoke incidents pre-ECU update but Toyota weren't interested when I took it in for the recall ("this'll fix it!"). After the 3km's, absolutely nothing. I am going to assume that the white smoke was during a DPF Regen? As I say, I was accelerating and I didn't pay too much attention to the slight (if any) rise in Revs from a burn.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue post the ECU update...?
I gather I will need to be pushing to get the DPF replaced (it's done 37,000km's only) under warranty. Would Toyota have anything to come back with noting that it's got a Catch Can fitted, and has done so since 9000kms?
