  • 2010 Kakadu KDJ150 HID Ballast

    Hi All

Was wondering if anyone can confirm for me what HID Ballast is in my car... i have a 2010 KJD150R built May 2010

    Looking at the below site
    https://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_20...AEYQ_8101.html

i can see this part - listed as a toyota part number...
81107 COMPUTER SUB-ASSY, HEADLAMP LIGHT CONTROL, RH
    81107-12A80 VX PACKAGE&HEADLAMP-LO BEAMISCHARGE & AFS (08/2009 - 06/2010) 1 $516.00

when i googles 81108-12A80 i can see both D2S and D4S versions? but i am pretty sure the kakadu's (and VX's) come with D2S?

which means i need this part??
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262933795702?rmvSB=true for $70 bucks???

    Thanks in Advance!
    Alex Chatz!!

P.S Anyone in Melbourne know how to change these things out? Willing to pay $$ Cash?

I bought new HID bulbs off ebay for 50 bucks and my HIDs are back to normal. Supposedly the ballasts are bullet proof. I have a set of new ballasts for sale!

Same. This worked for me. Flickering stopped and lights going off stopped as well.

Bought Sinoparcel D4S 6000K 35W HID Bulbs off Amazon for $35.99 for the pair.

Not the best of photos but these are what my bulbs looks like on removal of the Osram Xenarc Bulbs that were installed,

Hi AusNomads, I am very interested in finding out more. My low beam lights flicker and sometimes one will drop out, this week it is occuring more often. A couple of months ago at service the Toyota guy quoted me about $700 for new bulbs and I nearly fell over. As it was not happening all the time back then he suggested keep going with the flicker for a bit longer.

Would you (or anyone reading) know if the amazon link would be suitable for 2010 Kakadu or any other suggestions? Any help greatly appreciated as not keen on spending $700 for light bulbs on such an old vehicle.

I replaced the halogen bulbs for HID's in my fogs (35W) and high beams (55W) on my VX (already had HID's as normal headlights).
Purchased from Nupro-Tech http://www.newpro-tech.com.au/C35wHID.htm and if/when my OEM's stop working that's who I'll be getting replacements from.
Note that the OEM colour for the headlights is 4300K

                  Hi
                  Clutz,

So Sorry for the delayed response :|

I used the Sinoparcel D4S 6000K 35W HID Bulbs that I bought off Amazon for $35.99 and it solved the flickering and drop outs. I have been using them since end of July 2022 until now and have had no issues since. I fitted these to my 2010 VX, so it should work for your Kakadu as well.

Did you end up fixing the lights on your Kakadu? If not, worth a try - $36 wont break the bank

                  Cheers
