  • Floppy sun visor - bandaid fix

As with others, I have the floppy sun visor issue. I have tried splitting open the visor to take a look at the mechanism inside but there doesn't appear to be much that can be done to the mechanism itself. Other suggestions have been to use a magnet or velcro and attach them to the roof lining.

I've used bungee cord instead and strung it between the elbow and the grab handle. Not as quick to stow and deploy but it doesn't involve adhesives which I prefer.

      Hi AMTS
The auto drop down visor is a pain and unsafe of course.
My solution which has been 98% successful was to attach some self adhesive velcro tape to the visor (hook) type.
Then used a hair brush to fluff up the roof lining over the velcro stip.
A former forum member had used a small bolt over the pivot point of the visor to tighten the pivot.
      Cheers

Yes, the Grande ones are a whole lot more (~$200) as there is a light next to the mirror and the trim is velour. There was also conflicting part number info so didn't want to risk purchasing the wrong part.

Mine is a velour trim, so it's not smooth to stick anything on. Is yours vinyl like material?

I thought about the bolt idea but there is some cam insert inside that feels like it has rotated. So I wasn't sure if the bolt will actually return the visor to the home position because the cam position is now out.

The visor is vinyl but the head liner is able to be fluffed up to hold the velcro hooks.

I had the same problem with the auto drop down visor.
I removed the reading light assembly in the roof and drilled 2 holes in the roof liner diagonally across the corner of the visor.
I threaded 4mm bungee cord through the holes and added a washer to the bungee, then tied a knot on the furtherest hole from the reading light assembly hole to stop the bungee pulling through. I then pulled the bungee as tight as possible through the back of the other hole and did the same as the first.
The visor clips up with a gentle push and stops in place.
                looks neat as well.
Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.
