  • Yokahama GO15 tyres - anyone else changed to these from Yokie GO12s?

Hello guys a few weeks back I hit the button to replace my old Yokie GO12s (approx 7 y.o. & 80,000ks still more tread left). But the tread had gone hard & cracks were appearing in the tread groves = air leaks.

GO12s seem to be on the way out. But with "4 for 3 price" offers around there are lots of options.
Google indicates Yokie have introduced the next Generation GO15 with lots of blurb. They come in "Regular" or "HD", the latter seem to be closer to the old GO12 format (stiffer construction deeper tread) & more $$s.
But for my general use, boat towing, lite off road & camping, the GO15 "regular" was available as 5 tyres at 25% disc (not just 4th tyre free deal) total fitted was $1040

Result fantastic grip wet or dry black top & quiet as mini mouse! Yet to get some real dirt on them though.

Maybe not a tyre for hard Bush Bashing, but has anyone else got Yokie GO15s fitted?

i've had a set on for 30k and think they're awesome on road and have handled very well in the moderate amount of offroad stuff I've done, however I spiked one coming into a campground at road pressure (36psi) recently. I plugged it in camp and it handled the 100k of mild offroad and 200k trip home.

using the puncture as an excuse with the minister I've put a pair of Toyo OPAT2's on the rear and will change the fronts to the toyos when the front yokos have done 40-50k.

when i got the yokos i rushed in for a 4 for 3 sale but realised after I really wanted the toyos with their LT casing.

the yokos are great, just wish they did a LT casing.

Woodworm Did you not get the Replace/repair warranty when teh Yokie GO15s were fitted? It includes sidewall ply damage also?

They generally only get better, so if u had a good run stick with them, I had 4 sets of Bridgestone 694/697 so I have just got my 5th set on the hilux. They are quite, chunky enough to perform well off-road and they come in light truck and I have never had a puncture...

good point, i think i did. however i never took it back to Bob jane for alignment checks and rotations at 5k and 12 months as they kept pestering me to do by email...

yeah i've probably done myself out of a warranty claim but to be honest, not too fussed as i've managed to get a fresh spare tyre (the old one was likely 12 years old like the car) and i'm halfway to getting the full set of tyres i really want.
