  • Key fob in washing machine?

I'm sure I'm not the first, but I left my key fob in my pocket and my wife washed my shorts. Has anyone done this and what were if any effects caused to the unit? After I found it in my wet pants on the clothes line I immediately pressed the button and it unlocked my car, so maybe it will be fine. Cheers Dean

You should open it up and let it dry out (if any moisture ingress) before using it.

I know when I pull my 120!fob apart it is a sealed unit.
      Maybe yours is the same?

We did a trip to the Kimberley's last year and the wife went for a swim in a pool at Broome with ours. Had me very worried but I opened to find a nice silicon seal and not a drop of water after 30 min in the pool. Still going well. Good to see some decent waterproofing on such an expensive item, I was not looking forward to going to Broome Toyota for a replacement fob.

Not sure about full wash cycle but I would open the two halves and have a look. Only need to pry it apart to see.

          Cheers, Nova

This is BS. Best thing to do is hit it with some isopropyl alcohol as soon as possible. Air dry completely

Actually not. How does the alcohol displace/absorb water? Are you talking about soaking it in the alcohol?
