    I lusted over 120 d4d's

Bought a house and saved my arse off... had a kid and saved some more

Grew out of first house bought another

Saved some more and finally bought a brand new 150 ... car of my dreams... after 3 years id swap and pay $$ to upgrade to a 200 in a heart beat.. my old man bought one 12 months after our 150 and it IS the real deal

To get this point back on topic if you are chasing a GCM GVM upgrade on a prado you bought the wrong car IMHO

      why would you say that?
the 120 D4D has more payload than the 200 as far as available load
if the prado has 700kg and the 200 has 550kg and we tow the same van say 2T the prado will be far more economical than the 200
$40k for something that is much heavier & has less payload

dont get me wrong, i would have a 200 as well, till it needed any major work ( if the engine has any major issues it's a body off fix) i would think all of them are auto's, if the starter goes it's off with the top of the engine as the starter is under all the injection set up) try getting that fixed on a outback trip
the issue with the 200 is it has been de-rated here and now thousands have to spent to get it back upto the rating required (if you want to tow that 3+ ton van

what i am suggesting is most of all the vehicles have either been de-rated or are under rated to get you to go to the next level and, they are all sold with misguided information , and the buyer is the one that gets in trouble when he sets up to tow the cars rated tow capacity

how can a 200 series tow 3.5T with 5 passengers & fuel of fuel when it's total payload is 550kg ? and they are sold as 7 seaters
even if we say 250kg ball weigh, 5 passengers x 60kg is 300kg + 130kg for fuel = 680kg and i would struggle to find anyone that has the 60kg for all passengers ( and they say it average is supposed to include 13kg per person for luggage) but i didnt include luggage (as most would have it in the van)
2008 Dune D4D manual GXL update - with lots of fruit !! + Roma Razorback Off Road Van

I wouldnt buy a 200 with the intention of towing 3.5t same as i wouldnt buy a prado with the intention of towning 2.5t no headroom left

I pull a 2 ton boat with my 150 and thats plenty- it does it well etc but the 200 pulling the same boat is soooooo much better
