  • Are these the right front shocks (OME 60010)?

    Hi all,

I picked up an OME 30mm lift kit at the 4wd show recently.

    2869 Front Springs
    2895E Rear Springs
    60010 Front Nitrochargers
    60080 Rear Nitrochargers

Heavy springs up front to hold up the bar, winch, dual batteries and bash plates. Medium in the back because it's usually empty - I load up when camping but don't have drawers and don't tow.

ARB's suspension calculator suggests the 90010 shocks for the front. It looks like the 60010s I have are usually rear shocks for the 70 series.

    90010 has open length 543, closed 413.
    60010 has open 652, closed 403.

...I thought they were the other way round, but now that I've typed it out I realise the 60010 will have more droop, so it's probably fine.

I'll call ARB tomorrow to check but thought I'd get some opinions from knowledgeable PPs as well

    Cheers

575mm open is about the Max for the front.

60010 won't even fit on the front. It is an eye to eye shock and not an eye to pin strut!

Good news, ARB agreed to swap them with no charge to me (despite the correct ones being considerably more expensive).

The front open length of 543mm is shorter than the factory struts which has an open length of 555mm.
The closed length of 413mm is also shorter than factory closed lengths.
            There's something not right there.

Thanks, I'll double check those lengths. It looks like plenty of people have the 90010s with 50mm lifts, so I might have the wrong numbers.

The same short lengths are from the Suspension Database.

The OME's are recorded wrong in the database and measure 570mm as I recall

I put them in today and measured droop before and after - 860 before, 875 after, so they're definitely longer than stock. The numbers are a bit hard to compare because it was just on a trolley jack and not completely level but it was enough to know the suspension database measurement is wrong. Closed length was pretty close to the stock ones, maybe 10mm shorter.

^^^ This is an ancient error in the ARB catalogue which dates back to the pyramids! ARB have been told numerous times to fix it and they haven't.

Yep, the measurements in the suspension database match the ARB catalogue, so they're both equally wrong. Shame ARB haven't corrected it, it had me confused.
