  • Some General Forum Questions

I've been searching the forums, rules & FAQ's to try finding out the answers to some basic questions about the Prado Point forum, so far with little success. Help me if you can please.

Firstly - What is considered to be a "post"? If I start a topic such as this the assumption would be that it's a forum post. But if I reply to a topic in any forum is that considered to be one of my posts as well? If I send a reply to something with a simple message such as "Me too", is that a post?

Second - What do you have to do to not be considered a "Lurker"? Are a certain number of posts required, do I have to be a frequent visitor, what criteria is used?

I also think you should consider re-branding the term "Lurker". It's not a very complimentary term and has connotations of old men in dark alleyways wearing trench coats....not very PC in these times! Beware the PC Police! Perhaps something like Casual or Occasional Visitor would be a much more acceptable label.

Third - I'll probably never be anything other than a Casual Visitor to this site. I'm not particularly technically minded so will be unlikely to be able to contribute much to many discussions. That would appear to automatically restrict my membership classification. Much of what I've wanted to find answers to is often already available somewhere on a forum, I've just had to search for it so I don't need to post many questions. Besides I do have a life outside of Prado Point, I actually get out & enjoy using my Prado!

Will be interested to get some feedback on these queries.

Keep up the good work, this is an excellent resource for Prado owners everywhere.

You're just started a "thread", and you've made the first "post" in it. Every reply counts as a post for the user that replied. Threads are just collections of posts on a topic.

The term "lurker" is common online for describing someone who joins a forum but doesn't post much, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Being labelled a lurker online is very different to the real world and people won't judge you for it.
