Sorry if this has been posted and answered before.

I have not made any changes to the suspension!

It's time for new boots for the car, Im looking at BFG 165/70R17.

    Will these fit?

    according to :
    https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=50mm&sr=0mm

there should be no real problems.

Sorry, forgot to mention I have a 2015 Prado GXL, start of the new shape/remodel/2.8TD...

Hi Andrew, 165/70R17 sound pretty skinny. Are you sure you don't mean 265/70R17? 165 are 100mm skinnier than original fit.
        Cheers

haha, didn't even pick up on that Trev. I'm sure its a typo, they don't even make 165/70/17's.

Just beware that some tyre sizes in 265/70x17 do not fit in the rear wheel cover.

See here for a small list --> http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...re-wheel-cover

Should there be any problem with 275/65/17 being fitted to a 2015 facelift model.....

                  Cheers

Thanks for the reply. Meant also to say the reason for going to 275 is that there is a 50KG gain in load capacity.

You still cannot exceed axle or manufacturer's posted limits so that is moot. Bit taller without going to a 70 profile is why I ran 275s for a while.

True mate, for me nothing will change, weight wise, but I figured a bit of a more of a stronger tyre.

What size tyres can I put on my Kakadu 2009 3lt which has 18" rims and I think 7.5 wide as standard on 265 60 R18.
Am looking at Goodyear AT TA KO2. Would like to keep the diam about the same to save altering diff gearing but wider
would be nice like a 275.

Quite a few wise heads here so will pose this theory and hopefully get some comments:
I have narrowed my choice for next tyres to 265 70 16 on 16 x 7 rims or 265 65 17 on 17 x 8 rims. I am a little concerned about the "belly" of the 265 65 when deflated for offroad. My theory is if the rim is narrower [16 x 7 inch] then there will be less belly when the side ribs are on the track and therefor exposing less of the sidewall to the track. Even though 70 16 tyre has a higher side wall the side wall will be flatter than the wider 17 x 8 rim, so the theory goes.

I can't go 265 70 17 due legal height restrictions and also getting camper in to garage; yes it is very tight already with 265 70 15s. But I need to upgrade to get a heavier load rated tyre.

Havent yet decided between the LT BFG All Terrains or equivalent Toyo Open Country. Views on that appreciated too.

Some might have guessed that I am an interloping Hilux owner so will 'fess up to that straight up but good discussion re tyres here.
                              Cheers

Might be hairbrained but that's what I hope you can tell me.
