Gents,
I recently had a rebuild on the old girl, new head, rings & bearings, clutch etc, etc. Yesterday, on the way up to the mechanics to have an oil leak repaired under warranty the Prado brought up an orange engine light and lost all power but was still running. I pulled over & shut her down but couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. Fired her up again with no engine light lit and drove to the mechanics, another 30 kms away with no issues.
Mechanic now can't get her to start and the engine fault light's up again and will not clear. Apparently the code indicates a faulty throttle body position?
Anyone seen this before? Got a suggestion? Maybe just a faulty throttle position sensor or does he need to replace the whole throttle body?
The mechanic's trying to source a used throttle body assembly but apparently they're not that common. He's talking about pricing a new one from Toyota!! That got me frightened...... $$$$
Any help would be greatly received. I need her back on the road.
Cheers, Smokey.
