That will be fine mate, as the forum email or PM system doesn't seem to work you can contact me on this throw away email [email protected] or at least I hope so as I haven't tried this before.

Just a quick update for those still reading this thread. I had some issues with the Bluetooth OBD11 adaptor connecting. I have been in constant contact with the manufacturer of my unit (Dasaita, Hot Audio). Long story short, I copied two files to a fat32 formatted usb key and the system updated itself. The files I got from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-octa-t3575155
MCU version 2.75 and PX5 6.0 UPDATE HA (20171214). Bluetooth is now responding as it should. Now that i have it working how I like it, I will break it again and install malaysk-rom over the next day or so.

I am still reading this thread and interested in what you have done and intend to do. I hope you will post details of how the rom update goes, including how you back up the original firmware first.
I assume that doing this will leave your apps as they were? as I have spent quite a long time getting my navigation just how I want it, speedcam warning distances and text to speech etc. It would be shame to lose this although I guess that an app could be backed up separately?

Not being a fan of the current system in my 2014 Prado (worthless), I have been looking at other systems to fit and I am excited to read this thread about this unit. Unfortunately I'm not bearing the confidence of the installation as my approach would end up somewhere with the old "bull in a china shop" scenario, and my hands are as steady as "50kms/hr along a corrugated road". so my next thought would be to have it installed. I live in Adelaide so will make enquiries with some of the "professionals" and see how I go.

          Thx for posting.

Not sure if the 2014 dash is similar to the 2015 Ciaran but removing the old system took me all of 15 minutes (generous). I posted a you tube video link on the 150 removal earlier in this thread. The trickiest part was removing the vents from the old system and inserting them into the new. Then its a matter of connecting the leads at the back, looked daunting at first but the connectors are designed to only fit in their respective slots on the back of the unit. If all goes well, download the updates I posted earlier, put them on a usb key, plug them in and it will ask to be updated. All this is assuming you get a similar unit to mine as there are a number of manufacturers out there with different firmware, and you don't want to get them mixed up.

              I downloaded Malasky's 6.2 rom from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...evice-t3598908
              Installation:
Unzip the archive and copy the file Update.img to a USB key.
Insert the USB key into one of the spare connections coming from the unit (I have it hanging out on the passengers side foot well).
About 20 seconds later the system will popup a screen saying it found new updates and do you want to install. Also, on this popup is a tick box saying "Wipe data and clear cache". Tick this box for a clean install. I did this for previous firmware updates and it cleared any additional software I had installed, also contacts etc. Basically a factory reset. I also lost my IGO maps software. I have since downloaded versions of these, so no problem there.
20 minutes later, Malaysk's rom is installed. That's when the fun began.

Malaysk's rom is like the system on steroids. There are so many tweaks and alterations, I am not sure if I will ever get my head around them. I followed his installation video and changed all the settings from there. One problem I was getting was the "Screen overlay" Android issue. There was a module for Xposed "Nooverlaywarning" which fixed that problem. Also, still have an issue with connecting the OBD11 adapter in bluetooth. There is an answer for that but have not got around to it yet.

Xposed = Xposed is a base system that allows you to download modules, each of which can make one or more changes to the UI of your device. Things like adding the three dot menu to every app, or enabling the full 20MP sensor for Superior Auto in Sony cameras, or any manner of changes (google explanation)

It is a beautiful piece of work from Malaysk whom I will be surely donating to as he is doing this for the community. The rom goes back to 30 April 2017 and my version was last month, so he is quiet active in updating. If all this is too daunting for you i suggest you stick to the latest updates which I posted a link to above (MCU version 2.75 and PX5 6.0 UPDATE HA (20171214). These fixed my bluetooth issue and had the system running smoother. I can always revert to this but for the moment I will stay with Malaysk's. Also, there is whispers of Android 8.0 coming on this system in the near future. This may have the ability of split screen, two apps running side by side.

For anyone that is looking at installing one of these systems I suggest you purchase a system from Dasaita/HotAudio [HA] (Dasaita). I was lucky in doing this as Malaysk's rom is based off of this system. To explain further,
                  Manufacturers.
The Manufacturer is identified by the XXX when consutling the device information [MTCD_XXX_Version]. Take into accout that you should always refer the MANUFACTURER name (not the seller) on the forums for help/assistance. Giving the name for the Seller does not give any information but confusion.

e.g: MTCD_HA_1.93_1 (MTCD Unit with MCU for HOtAudio under 1.93_1 version)
Known sellers & the respective manufacturers for MTCD PX5 are:
                  SELLER [Man. Acronym] (MANUFACTURER)
                  ______________ _____________
                  Dasaita/HotAudio [HA] (Dasaita)
                  Erisin/Pumpkin [LM]
                  Erisin [KGL] (Kai Ge Le)
                  Xtrons [GS]
                  Witson [MX]
                  ????? [HLA] (Hualingan)
                  ????? [XRC]
????? [HZC] (Shenzhen Hansong Electronics Co. Ltd.)

Thanks for posting about your upgrade. Even though I am happy with my unit I will try the same once I get the time.
A do have a few questions though:
Did you make a back up of the original firmware first, if so how did you do it?
How did you power the unit while the upgrade was happening? I am thinking that if it takes 20 minutes and you have the power from aux position it may automatically shut off with possibly disastrous results.
Did you back up any apps to easily restore on the new firmware or decide to start afresh? I am thinking for instance that iGO could be upgraded from the supplied primo version to next generation.
Would you mind if I had a look at your unit? I am happy to travel at your convenience, I am south of the river, I don't know how to contact anyone on the forum as the PM system doesn't work. I have asked why but not had a response.

No backup, figured there is enough software and firmware versions on the net to get me out of trouble. There is information to help even if you brick the system, but that seems drastic. Talked about opening the system and de-soldering some pins to re-flash the rom.
I pressed the ignition button twice which gave more time than pressing once. I could open the door and the system would not shut down (unlike pressing the ignition button once). Not sure on the exact time for each (one press or two) but they both have a limit and put the system into standby. It is just a matter of pressing the ignition button again and it stays powered up.
No problem checking it out. i am in the northern suburbs. You can e-mail me your details and I will call you if you like. You can e-mail me here:
                      [email protected]
This is up for 10 minutes, I can add another 10, but hopefully you are reading this.

So my unit arrived last week and I have fitted it with no problems. everything works apart from the open door indicator. So I need to change that. Another problem is that the reverse camera is actually showing opposite, right side is on the left of the screen and left is on the right, I think there were two camera leads at the back of the unit so I will change them over as it may be that one is for the front camera (no front camera in my vehicle) and one for the reverse. Hazard light switch was in the original unit so I ll have to find another spot and consequently a different switch. Can someone fill me in on the vacant hole on the left side? I took the push button off the top of the hazard switch and the switch actually fits into this position, so I m now thinking there is a button I can get to fit onto the hazard switch and problem solved. Still unsure of the updates I need to dnld for the unit (MCU Version MTCD_HA_V2.56_1) think this is what I need to know to find the updates.

There should be a hazard light button supplied with your new unit. This clips onto the old switch after you have removed the old front. Have you changed the rudder and door from left to right hand drive in the can bus settings?

                                No button in box.

no haven't changed that setting. haven't found where to as yet. thought it might be in the factory settings but that asked for a password. ??
Will have to email again about the button, as yet I have had no reply from emails already sent. I ll keep trying.

                                thx for the help.
                                Ciaran.
