Hi Guys,
I am having a 2010 Prado GRJ150R VX Sports Automatic for almost 4 years.
Last two years we were noticing skidding issues even in small turns and roundabouts. When I mentioned this to our dealers and mechanics they were saying the Anti Skid System getting kicked off for stabilizing the car.
We are really pissed off because our 2009 corrolla will turn without any issues in the same turns and roundabout even in faster speed.
Yesterday we were going in a downhill very slow (20kmh) and about to stop in a signal. We applied full brake to avoid collision with the car in front but brakes locked and I don't know whether ABS or anti skid system kicked in, the car was skidding, shaking, sliding and ended up rear end to the other car. (Didn't apply hand brake due to the panic situation). I felt brake pedal was vibrating.
we recently replaced brake pads.. Tyres are in good condition..(according to the mechanic 20KM life remaining on these tyres). (please note we have 20 inch sporty wheels and low profile tyres for our car)
After the incident I checked the brakes in different speeds and it was working fine.
As we already planned a Sydney to gold coast trip during Christmas holidays we are worried with this issue. (Planning to go through scenic views which will have lot of ups and down roads). We lost the confidence in our brakes now.
When I googled people are complaining about 2010 Prado with similar issues but couldn't find any solution from anywhere.
Some are saying it is due to the disc issues, anti skid system failure, ABS system failure etc.
If anyone experienced and fixed the similar issues please advise me what is the issue and what to fix.
Please let me know if you need more details.
Thanks in advance
