  • Sub fuel tank on 2004 Prado

Hi guys, just got a 2004 Prado, just wondering if anyone is able to help. I was driving the other day fuel gauge read half full, the next thing I see a full tank with the 90L light on, where is the half tank gone and is there supposed to be a switch and gauge for the second tank???

Working perfectly. That is what it should do. It changes tanks automatically. When the green light is on you are on the second tank. If the orange light comes on at way less than 1/4 full you have at least 10 litres left so don't panic. Lots of threads on this if you dig around in search or google Prado 120 fuel tanks.

So is there still half a tank or does that get pumped into the other tank over time

When the green comes on you have one full tank ie. about 87-90 litres. You will notice that the needle goes down faster than on the first tank.

There is a number of threads on this.
First tank is 100 litres. Second is 80. It continuously pumps from one to another via a jet Venturi pump. To avoid stale fuel.
