  • Replacement windscreen for 120 D4D

My original windscreen has a large crack and needs replacing.
Being diesel I understand I need an acoustic screen and enquire of others their experience with replacement.
Cost would be handy to know and supplier particularly around Gold Coast/Brisbane with good reputation

I put off replacing mine for years until I got a third stone chip right in front of the drivers side. It was easy to replace and is good as new. There were two options, a cheap basic windscreen I think $195 fitted or the glare-foil type that keeps heat out by filtering the infrared which I got, $395 fitted. See http://www.autoglasswarehouse.com.au They're at 33 Musgrave Road Coopers Plains. Their website looks like they only sell the glass but they have 6 fitting bays and can do it while you wait. Haven't heard of acoustic windscreens. My new one is just as quiet as before.

      Thanks Campbell.
I rang Toyota and the part no for original windscreen fitted is 5611160650. Spare parts told me cost was $1008.
Rang insurer and they agreed to replace with like for like and i arranged with O'brien Glass who seemed to be the most helpful to do the job.

Found out there are no screens of this nature in oz and order will take 3-6 weeks.
Found out there were different windscreens for the Toyota petrol and diesel http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...ont-Windscreen
In discussions with the various fitters I found out about accoustic windscreens and I assume the original is in that category.
It also has a tinted band at top
Some markers for accousics are here https://www.google.com.au/search?q=a...w=1463&bih=714

I remember now I read that PP thread and looking at it again now I don't think it concludes with anything definite, was it just marketing and hype about DVDs being more expensive. If insurance will replace maximum one windscreen per year, and Toyota wants $1,500 a pop, what's your annual insurance premium like? My comprehensive is $740 per year but doesn't include glass. I still think my $395 windscreen is as good and clear as the original and same noise level. It has a tinted band at the top. I would just say don't put off replacing it as I did. I have attached a picture of the label on mine but I don't know what the numbers mean. Funny that Toyota doesn't have any stock in Australia if some forum members are replacing them every other year.
